Who We Are

On July 1st, 2010, Lufkin Federal Credit Union received approval for a community charter. Now any person who lives, works, worships or attends school in Angelina County, as well as businesses, and other legal entities located in Angelina County is eligible for membership in Lufkin Federal Credit Union.

Lufkin Federal Credit Union is a full service, not for profit financial institution formed in 1964. The original name of the credit union was LFM Federal Credit Union, formed to serve employees of Lufkin Foundry & Machine Company (later became Lufkin Industries, Inc.) and their family members. The credit was formed for the purpose of encouraging savings by offering a good rate of return, using collective monies to make loans at competitive low rates, and providing other useful financial services.

History

In August 1999 the credit unions charter converted from a single common bond to a multiple common bond. During the next several years, other groups were added including Truss & Son Plumbing, Drago Supply, Texas Metal Casting, Moseley Enterprises, employees & Members of Denman Avenue Baptist Church, employees of International Paper (now Georgia Pacific) in Corrigan and Camden, employees of Moyes Catering and employees of Vertis.

The credit union is committed to the philosophy of helping our members in a responsible and caring manner, or more simply "People Helping People".
